WebSocket wrapper designed to block some edgy scripts from loading ads. OUTDATED SCRIPT! Adblock Plus and uBlock Origin are perfectly capable to block such ads in modern versions of Firefox and Chrome. Feel free to remove it.
Updated the code to better handle ^ character when it matches end of the string and some other corner cases.
BTW, you don't really need this script since Adblock Plus and other extensions in Firefox are capable to block WebSocket connections as-is, so Firefox never was a target platform for it, even though it somehow works there.
Also, it's worth mentioning that uBlock is already have a supplementary extension for Chrome to let it block WebSocket connections and Adblock Plus is working on implementing their own solution.
Thank you man for fixing it, please keep it up with firefox&greasemonkey too, as it's indispensable like your scissors scripts.
I never thought using ABP to block ws, i need to control them and see in console what and when happens.
Thanks again.
Doesnt work with Greasemonkey 3.8
Your latest 2.x version ruined everything man :(
It shows correctly that [WSI] Opening socket on ... , but it does nothing to block it
Try on https://poloniex.com/exchange
add '||api2.poloniex.com^',
and you will see that nothing except of the fact that socket is being opened & connection is established
Staying on version 1.4 stable, it really does what is says.
Firefox 47, Greasemonkey 3.8 signed stable
