API key

GIS Buttons is no longer accepting my API key. I created a new one and it's not accepting that either. Red exclamation point icon, with "see console for errors." Where is the console?

Do you have billing enabled for your Google account? It has to be enabled even if you don't get charged. You can see the console by pressing Ctrl+Shift+J / Ctrl+Option+J in Chrome or Ctrl+Shift+K / Command+Option+K in Firefox, or opening it through the developer tools.

Go to https://console.developers.google.com/google/maps-apis/apis/geocoding-backend.googleapis.com and enable that API for your project of the key you are using.

My billing account looks fine and enabled I replaced an expired credit card. But it's still not working.

Did you try the link above? This doesn't have anything to do with your billing account, it's the API that needs to be enabled.

Yay, that finally worked! I was making sure the PLACES API was enabled, not GEOCODING. That doesn't seem to be in the instructions? I'll have to re-read them.

I think the link in the instructions take you to a page to create a project with that API enabled. If you are using an existing project, then you would have to manually enable the API.
