The only solution I've found to this is to put the tag on a single line such as:

  1. First thing
  2. Second thing
  3. Third thingy
Some other text here...

Giving:

  1. First thing
  2. Second thing
  3. Third thingy

Some other text here...

I consider this as a bug, since the extra line break element shouldn't be there in the first place.
