Disable YouTube AV1 and VP9

  • As use this script, you will disable both AV1 and VP9 so all your YouTube videos are likely to become AVC1.
  • You will be beneficial by hardware decoding but some high resolutions like 2k and 4k will no longer be available.
  • Opposite Script: Use YouTube AV1

  • Related Script: Disable YouTube AV1

Note:

Important Note: Without AV1 and VP9, some high resolution modes of videos might not be available in AVC1. (e.g. 2k & 4k)

AV1 is not yet supported in hardware decoding.

VP9 is usually supported in hardware decoding in modern PC.

AVC1 will be used instead which is usually under hardware decoding.
