How to Use?

  1. Go to the video page to copy a transcript.
  2. From the options at the bottom left, click the notepad icon to copy the transcript only. If you want an AI platform (ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek or Qwen) to summarize it, click an AI icon.
  3. The selected AI platform will open and the copied transcript will be automatically pasted along with a prompt requesting a summary.
  4. If needed, change the language model as desired and press the submit button.
  • Also, you can activate or deactivate the Auto-Send function and AI buttons by clicking on the Tampermonkey extension.

Recommendations

  • The transcript will be copied in the language you use Coursera, but the AI prompt will request the output in your native language. It is recommended to copy the transcript in the educator’s native language. If you want to copy it in another language, you must change the subtitle settings in the video player.
  • By holding down the CTRL key and clicking on multiple AI icons, you can open multiple AI platforms simultaneously. This allows you to compare outputs from different language models and choose the best one.
  • Enable or disable the Auto-Send and AI buttons settings only on the coursera.org website.

Troubleshooting

  • If you click on multiple AI icons, your browser may block the new tabs for the first time. To prevent this, look for the pop-up blocker icon in the address bar on the coursera.org page and click "Always allow."
  • Your browser language is used to determine your native language in the AI prompt. If the output is in a different language than expected, check your browser's language settings.
  • If you know a better prompt for summarizing transcripts, you can modify it in your code and also share it as feedback with me.
