Hackread Dark Switcher

Bring back your eyesight, one dark pixel at a time. This userscript adds a smooth, modern Dark Mode toggle to Hackread.com. Designed to reduce eye strain and enhance readability, the script also remembers your last selected mode — so you don’t need to keep switching every time you visit.

✨ Features:

  • 🌓 Toggle between Light and Dark mode
  • 💾 Remembers your theme preference
  • 🖱️ Easy-access toggle button in the bottom-right corner
  • 📱 Fully responsive on mobile and desktop

🛠️ How to Use:

  1. Install Tampermonkey or Violentmonkey.
  2. Click Install this script on GreasyFork.
  3. Visit https://hackread.com.
  4. Tap the 🌙 in the bottom-right to enable Dark Mode.
  5. Tap ☀️ to go back to Light Mode.

💡 Why I Made This:

Hackread used to have a native dark mode, but at some point it disappeared. As someone who reads their articles late at night, it became a strain. This script is my way of saying:

“I avocade for dark mode to be returned to Hackread — until then, here's a fix.”
