greasyfork.org 已被中国封锁!
Can anyone else confirm? I can see a sharp drop in traffic on Feb 6 2AM UTC, but can't be sure of the cause yet. Various "is it blocked in China?" checkers are saying it is indeed blocked (but not Sleazy Fork).
It has indeed been blocked
So is there a possibility of regaining access?
I don't know why it's been blocked or if it's permanent. I doubt I will ever find out.

It was indeed blocked.
I think there are many reactionaries here who are lawless and extremely rampant! Their username and published scripts contain some reactionary publicity. You are a person who speaks English and can’t find the reason
For example, this script https://greasyfork.org/zh-CN/scripts/481396
For example, this person's user name https://greasyfork.org/zh-CN/users/1432374

I suspect that some of the recently added scripts may be in violation of national policies, because before Gresyfork was blocked in China, I found that four scripts were blocked separately during the script review process, and after changing the region, I found that they were not blocked by Gresyfork, but by the Chinese firewall. Based on this reason, I suspect that due to the recent release of a large number of scripts that violate national policies, the reviewers directly blocked the domain names for convenience. I suggest that administrators check the recently released scripts, hoping to be helpful to administrators.
I'm not about to censor scripts on behalf of the Chinese government. I will look into ways of getting around the block.

Sites with discussion via texts/audios/videos outside China should not be directly accessed by the people in China.
For example, Discord
Therefore, if you want the userscripts can be used in China, you need to have another domain to store the userscripts. (userscripts are read-only in that site. There would be no forum (community feature) in that domain.)
For community feature (https://greasyfork.org/en/discussions/), a separate domain is required.
That's why Sleazy Fork would not get blocked because there is no community feature in "Sleazy Fork".
All the community features have to be under PRC's govt. control.
PRC govt uses "humans" to check the violations.
If you want to let PRC people to discuss, please do it in a China server and with the terms that obey the PRC regulations.
the PRC blocking would not inform the admin. It is very difficult to "undo" such a blocking. (no objection mechanism)
For simplicity, you can do it like Sleazy Fork to have a clean domain for the Greasy Fork scripts. (no community feature)
(note that sub-domain is not okay. a brand new top domain is required)
Just show you a example.
This site stores the scripts in "scriptcat.org"
In the top navigation bar, you can see the "Community" tab.
When you click on it, it will navigate you to "bbs.tampermonkey.net.cn"
This is intended to do like this. The reason is to separate the community participation from the script list site.
I understand that user-generated content can be a cause for blocking in China; however, the entire site is user-generated content, not just discussions.
I imagine Sleazy Fork has escaped notice just because it's not as popular. It has all the same features, even discussions (as reviews on scripts). Or perhaps there is specific content that is on Greasy Fork and not Sleazy Fork that caused it.
In some China's sites, they will do the community features like this.
1 DB to store all the threads. ("DB site" - a top domain diff. with "foreign site" and "PRC site" without port 80 interface)
"foreign site" will see all the threads. Threads that posted by the PRC people (registered in "PRC site") are read-only in "foreign site". All access from PRC ip will be redirected to "PRC site"
"PRC site" is accessible by both PRC people and non-PRC people. Only posts by PRC people are shown. Need obey PRC regulations (privacy terms and usage terms, etc) and hosted on the China server. (China server for port 80 is required. communication to "DB site" shall be via API)
Frankly, I'm not going to be running this site based on PRC regulations.

No. Posting Userscripts is not under the PRC regulations. The concern is to "Community" not "User-generated contents". The userscripts posting is not a direct mean for the communication purpose although it can be used for communication purpose.

Just make a "https://cn-greasyfork.org/" to fork the contents of "https://greasyfork.org/zh-CN/scripts/" should be fine.
(Redirect access from greasyfork.org to cn-greasyfork.org based on the IP)
(Hide the comments sections as well - "No comment is available", etc)
That is the general plan for right now, but I don't believe I can create a redirect because the traffic is not reaching greasyfork.org.
Actually, unlike YouTube and Twitter, or even GitHub, there isn't a lot of talk on Greasyfork against the CCP. I think it's because useful plugins hurt the interests of some big companies, such as Baidu.

No matter what the reason is I hope the administrator will not take any action Because this issue can be resolved through VPN This is a wise choice

The vast majority of people in China do not have VPN or even understand VPN
Is there a temporary backup domain name?

I imagine Sleazy Fork has escaped notice just because it's not as popular. It has all the same features, even discussions (as reviews on scripts). Or perhaps there is specific content that is on Greasy Fork and not Sleazy Fork that caused it.
sleazyfork is banned too. (shanghai Telecom)
There is someway to bypass gfw without a third-party server.
But it requries a local TCP proxy, maybe an extension can do it.
Is there a temporary backup domain name?
cn-greasyfork.org is being set up, but it will take up to a day.
Or, some param switches (--host-rules) can cause domain fronting and bypass the censor of sni(http host). But **cloudflare free plan does not support domain fronting. .**
```
chromium --host-rules="MAP greasyfork.org 104.21.33.155,MAP sleazyfork.org 104.21.33.155" --ignore-certificate-errors
```
Or, we may use http3 (gfw do not censor udp up to now, but it QoS it, maybe the website is slow)forcely. use
```
chromium --host-resolver-rules="MAP greasyfork.org 104.19.112.155:443,MAP sleazyfork.org 104.19.112.155:443" origin-to-force-quic-on=greasyfork.org,sleazyfork.org
# notice that host rules and resolver rules supports wildcard, but force quic on not, if forks have some sub domains, add it.
```
Unluckily, for the android user, adb is requried to set switches.
according the experiences of zlibrary.
any mirror will be blocked in one week.
A tool about "domain fronting" has added a new rules(https://github.com/SpaceTimee/Cealing-Host/releases/tag/1.1.4.3) to their application to ensure their users have ability to connect with greasyfork.org(bypass the cloudflare cdn and use the original server ip to use the "domain fronting").Im not sure when the server ips of greasyfork will be blocked.And I think a mirror site is need for users in China mainland.

sleazyfork is banned too. (shanghai Telecom)
As far as I can tell, it is not. While https://www.itdog.cn/http/ says blocked, https://www.chinafirewalltest.com/?siteurl=sleazyfork.org says not blocked, and more importantly, my Google Analytics shows no change in traffic from China, while greasyfork.org had a reduction of ~75%.
https://cn-greasyfork.org/ is now up. It's intended to be a mirror with the following changes:
- UI only displayed in Chinese - Simplified or Traditional.
- No discussions (script reviews still allowed).
Let me know of any suggestions or bugs encountered.

It doesn't seem to have solved the problem, the script's install address and update checking address is still https://update.greasyfork.org, which causes the script manager to still not check for updates.
Also, the library for @require https://update.greasyfork.org/scripts/... will still be inaccessible in China as well.
the script's install address and update checking address is still https://update.greasyfork.org
I've fixed this - it now points to update.cn-greasyfork.org.

update.cn-greasyfork.org is not in the @require allowed list
In china, some site is not banned at the internet outport, some province banned them alone. For example, henan, Quanzhou Fujian have some more censor.
You can see https://www.itdog.cn/http/ and test the domain. (my test ad 2025.02.09 12:00 UTC+8) show that Sichuan bans sleazyfork...
I don't know why but I, in shanghai, pudong:
```bash
λ curl https://sleazyfork.org/zh-CN
curl: (35) Recv failure: Connection was reset
```
We think now China is going to block ANY websites WITH discuss/forum/review/upload function WITHOUT self-censor, BOTH Chinese sites and International sites. Chinese sites are marked as SCAM and International sites are marked as ILLEGAL. So cn-greasyfork.org should disable the review function and check if there are banned words in scripts' descriptions and contents.

The daily installation count is very low. Is there some kind of statistical bug?

Fixed.

Well I'm not sure the entire concept of Greasy Fork works with such a restriction. For now we'll stick to a different domain with no explicit forum and see how it goes.

The entirety of China was cut off and that where the majority of installs came from. I would be surprised if they didn't drop because of this.
Fixed.
The code still uses https://update.greasyfork.org/scripts...
for the newly generated @updateURL, @downloadURL addresses. see attachment.

I feel the same way, and I hope the administrators can test it out.
After installing multiple scripts, it was discovered that the daily installation count in their statistics does not increase.

The domain cn-greasyfork.org is having issues again.
域名 cn-greasyfork.org 也被封锁。
The domain "cn-greasyfork.org" is also blocked. My suggestion is: "For Chinese sites, ban all text from appearing. The homepage should show an error directly. When clicking into specific links, only display (whether to install, and the option to choose an older version; no other text should appear), and then redirect to the Tampermonkey installation."
cn-greasyfork.org 再次被中国政府封锁!
The blocking of cn-greasyfork.org is faster than blocking some new nsfw sites :D
It's unusual, this site has not yet spread among the users, seems like someone is tracking and reporting it?
I encourage you do use whatever workarounds you can if you want to access the site. I don't think I'll be making drastic changes to try to get it working in China.

I'm sorry to hear about the latest blocking news. The current temporary solution is to temporarily add new domain names. Can the administrator add 2-3 more temporary domain names for users to use normally before coming up with a better solution, so that users can access the latest scripts normally? This will reduce some users' anxiety.

stop trying.
zlibrary's any mirror will be blocked by gfw in one weeks.
maybe only update will be better.

DIt's unusual, this site has not yet spread among the users, seems like someone is tracking and reporting it?

So to give you a look into what I'm thinking...
I do not know why the site is being blocked. As those who care probably already know, the Chinese government is not forthcoming on why it does what it does or what it would take to get them to stop. I have heard 4 or 5 opinions on possible reasons, ranging from blaming specific pages on Greasy Fork to the entire concept of Greasy Fork. Without knowing why, I'm not going to start removing content or functionality for Chinese users.
Even if I did know why, it doesn't mean that I would even act. I am not going to censor the content on Greasy Fork over the political sensibilities of the CCP. I'm not going to stop allowing scripts for Chinese tech giants. I'm not going to stop allowing user generated content.
As far as setting up more domains, I don't really see the point if they get blocked again within a couple days. This is not enough time for users to be able to find the new site, unless they're savvy, and if they are, then they already know the workarounds.
I am the developer of Sheas Cealer (and Cealing Host). It can solve SNI blocking. If greasyfork officials are willing to make Sheas Cealer one of the officially recommended ways to access greasyfork, I am willing to cooperate fully, but I hope greasyfork officials maintain political neutrality as possible.
Like I said before, I encourage anyone in China to use whatever workaround is good for them. I don't think I'm going to officially recommend any specific approach because I'm not familiar enough with either how things are getting blocked or what can be done to get around it.
No matter what the reason is I hope the administrator will not take any action Because this issue can be resolved through VPN This is a wise choice
agree
support gfwed
fuck chinese bot
fuck wechat official accounts
the chinese forum environment will be better

I am designer of a Chinese website whose domain is also banned, I don't want to mention the reason and I can tell you the reason is always outside your knowledge. I support u to persist in what you are doing,it makes no sense to change another domain. Service other countries and the left let Chinese users determine by themselves.
