I was very frustrated by the absence of a script that could directly download the audio from a YouTube video without having to use a conversion website.

So I made my own.

After looking through countless websites, I finally found an API that was relatively reliable and easy to implement.

I cleaned up the code from the popular YouTube to MP3 button developed by Punisher to use as my UI. I then built on top of that by adding in the necessary code to utilize the API.

The result is a minimalistic button that allows anyone to download the audio from a YouTube video within seconds. There are no ads, no popups, and no redirects.

Hopefully, this helps someone out there who, like me, is tired of visiting websites or using the youtube-dl command line to download the audio from YouTube videos.
