While we wait for AO3 to fix the long-standing bug/“known issue” where draft works or chapters are published with the date the draft was created, this script makes life much easier by warning us near the post button that the prospective publication date is old—and offering a 1-click way to update to today’s date! It’s so slick that it feels like magic. And the script also scrolls the date field into view so that you can confirm it worked.
This is a lifesaver for anyone who is a heavy user of AO3 drafts—or a casual user of drafts who forgets about this bug until accidentally publishing a work 3 days in the past!
(Disclaimer: I asked @escctrl if it was possible to write a script like this. And it was, hooray!)
