merges 2+ part split images on twitter/x into a single stitched image with one click.

what it does

when a tweet contains 2 or more images that are parts of a split image, a merge images button appears over the media. clicking it stitches them together into one seamless image displayed inline.

two merge modes are available:

vertical (default): stacks the images top to bottom. use this for images split into horizontal strips
grid: stitches the images as a 2x2 grid, reconstructing the original. use this for images split into quadrants

automatically detects tweets with 4-image layouts
toggle between vertical and grid merge modes before merging
handles quote tweets separately from the main tweet
fetches images at original quality (?name=orig)
replaces the 4-image layout with the merged result inline
no external dependencies, no data collection

installation

install a userscript manager like Tampermonkey or Violentmonkey
click install on the greasyfork page

usage

browse twitter/x normally. when you see a tweet with 4 images that look like parts of a split image, a merge images button will appear over them.

click merge images to stitch using the current mode (vertical by default)
click the ⇅ button to the left to toggle grid mode (turns blue and shows ⊞ when active), then click merge images

notes

merging is done entirely in your browser using the canvas api, nothing is sent to any server
the button only appears on tweets with exactly 4 images
grid mode assumes twitter's dom order matches the visual 2x2 layout (top-left, top-right, bottom-left, bottom-right)
if the merge fails (e.g. due to cors restrictions), an error state will show on the button and details will be logged to the browser console
