Alchemy continues to perform Experiments while performing Research

I've noticed that Alchemy continues to perform Rank 20+ experiments while the Research task is active, causing massive consumption of Aqua Regia. It *may* have done this prior to Rank 20 in Alchemy. Is it possible to trap out Experiments while we are Researching?
