Here's how the notifications tab looks for me. Could you please make a similar screenshot demonstrating the problem?
it doesn't seem to crash now after the update, tho what it did was fully freeze the browser tab and give an out of memory error after some time

Not sure what you mean. I haven't had any issues with the page https://x.com/notifications. Like notifications and retweet notifications all get updated to the old wording.
it's a bit weird tbh, it works normally again, i think it might fuck something over if something is included in a tweet you're getting a notification about, i'm just not sure what as it doesn't even give an error, it just freezes the whole tab
