Simple userscript that will blur/shrink YouTube captions that don't contain a hanzi character.
NOTE: By default the script starts off disabled, so you won't see an immediate effect. See the information about menu commands below.
This script is for language learners (specifically people trying to learn Mandarin Chinese). Often learning channels will include subtitles with too much information, such as the pinyin or just a complete translation.
Note: Some userscript managers can't detect when the page changes on a site like YouTube (navigation doesn't actually load a new page). In this case, you might have to refresh to get the userscript to activate.
This script can easily be modified to hide whatever captions you want as long as you can write a regex that matches them. Simply change the hanRe
constant.
Contains two menu commands:
Toggle enabled - changes the current state (will take effect the next time a caption hits the screen).
Toggle initial state - determines whether the userscript starts off enabled or not.
