Wattpad Width Fixer and Suggestions Hider

Futzes with the width settings to make it wider

Question/comment

I don't know how to code CSS but luckily I have ADHD timeblindness and accidentally spent all night hyperfixated on quality of life edits. The sun has come up and I regret nothing. If you want to perfectly center the text (i hope... i pulled out an irl ruler because pixel division was getting me nowhere) and get rid of that weird share bar, replace lines 30 through 33 of the original code with these instead:

insertCss('#sticky-end{width:960px;margin-right:136px}')
insertCss('.col-md-offset-2{margin-left:0px;}')
insertCss('.panel.panel-reading{margin-left:-29px;}')
insertCss('.panel-reading{width:1000px;}')
insertCss('.right-rail{display:none;}')
insertCss('.left-rail{display:none;}')
insertCss('.modal-open{overflow:inherit;}')

Also, yes I know the comment buttons make the text look uncentered but it truly is centered. I would know, I used a whole damn ruler ;-;
If it really bothers you then idk what to tell you, i only realized this issue until after 6 in the morning so unfortunately im go sleep.

I tried your suggested CSS, but they seem to be highly specific to your browser/screen size/how you use the site, compared to mine.

With your changes (left) and without (right), side-by-side on the one screen: https://i.imgur.com/s9bT2ZF.png

With your changes fullscreen: https://i.imgur.com/yfKyvuI.png

I appreciate that my CSS styling selections have room for improvement, and I'm happy your changes work for you.
But I would not consider my script itself to have any bugs (it changes the CSS on the page like we both tell it to), and I unfortunately would consider your suggested CSS styling changes worse than what I've got now for anyone other than you, so I won't be changing anything at this stage (since I don't really use WattPad anymore either).

Yikes... I realize now that I should have been clearer. I wasn't talking to you when I spoke in the second person. It was more for any random passerby who decided to use the script and found it unsatisfactory. Again, I have 0 experience with CSS and I believe that, yes, I did specifically use my physical monitor's pixel measurements to fix the code to my liking. I realize now that this would not have a universal effect. However, seeing as my laptop is pretty average sized, I'll leave up my original post. I do thank you so much for even making this script seeing as I would have had no idea how to start one and just used inspect element to figure the rest out.

p.s. just so you can understand how pleased i was with my tech based redneck engineering, here's how the edited vs unedited script works for me (respectively): https://imgur.com/a/bnRnYJ8 \ https://imgur.com/a/6KifLju (😬yikes right?)

p.p.s. you have great taste in literature (do NOT inspect mine please istg)

Ah I see, that does make sense when read like that lol.
I was mostly responding to what you'd said in the context of the heading of the review saying of "Ok (Needs Bugfixing)" or something, which it doesn't seem to say anymore, so yay!

Having mucked about more with my script and seeing your examples, I do understand where you were coming from...
When on my (quite wide) screen, the Author Details show up on the left (eg: https://i.imgur.com/GSte3pn.png)
Which I was fine with and couldn't be bothered to relocate, and somewhat appreciated because if text is too wide it gets harder to read, but it does mean the text isn't centered.

I've uploaded a new version that'll accomplish that while still somewhat preserving the author details.

p.s. I only used Wattpad to read one story, and now I've stopped lol, so I just picked a random story from the homepage to test with.
I promise I don't care what other people read though lol.

Gotcha, gotcha. Well I'll have to check out that new version then! And if you ever feel like exploring a reading community, I would definitely recommend finding something else on Wattpad that interests you! There're so many diamonds in the rough imho. Happy reading, scripting, and whatever else have you haha :) good day
