I've tried, myself, to decipher the youtube DOM objects and do a .click() on the right ones, and I never got it to work. Looking briefly through your code, the thought impresses itself upon me that I have so dreadfully much to learn about JS. Thank you for finding a way to persist the inexplicably amnesiac Dark Theme!
To anyone who has trouble getting this to work: get TamperMonkey for Chrome or Firefox, install this script, and make sure the script is enabled. (Also make sure TamperMonkey itself is enabled!) Given those few prerequisites are met, you should have no problem.
