Thank you for your detailed report! All is true: now that there are handles, there is probably something that was injected along with the display name of the channels in the chat. Middle-click suggestion is also spot on. Should not take much time to implement!

Getting back to your suggestions, I've released a new version supporting middle click!
Unfortunately, YouTube does not embed channel handles in the chat, so search functionality remains the same as before.

It works well thank you. But I have two suggestions. You should update the channel search function to bring you directly to the channel page, not the channel search page. If this was not possible before, it should be now that channels have a unique username with an '@' symbol. Also I would prefer if you middle-click to open the channel page, because otherwise you have to delete the mention from chat box each time.
