Adds fields for persistent global & fandom filters to works index pages on AO3
< Feedback on ao3 saved filters
Hey there, it's been a really long time since I wrote or looked at this script, but I think I meant the fandom filters box to be used for searches you want to save within a certain fandom. For example, if I want all my searches within the Harry Potter tag to have neville -snape
applied as additional filters.
The fandom filters box shows, or doesn't, based on whether the script thinks a certain fandom owns most of the works in the current tag. Specifically, the count next to the first fandom listed under the "Fandoms" dropdown within the filters box must make up at least 70% of the works returned by the current search. (This is a rule I just made up, and no one else has ever commented on it, so it's probably not as smart as it should be)
For example, "Albus Dumbledore" is probably owned by the Harry Potter fandom. If the tag is something more generic, like "Hurt/Comfort" then probably no particular fandom is being detected as the owner, so the fandom filters box is being hidden because we don't know which fandom's saved filters should apply.
From your comment, I think that you are not using the fandom filters box as intended...which is hardly a surprise, because the intended usage is super unclear. Can you confirm?
And, if you are trying to use it some other way, what exactly do you want to do? If you give me some steps to follow with example tags, and your expected result, maybe I can help.
Fandom Filter functionality
Been using this script for a bit now, and I love it!
My only problem so far is figuring out how the fandom filter works. For instance, when I search something, or say click one of my favourited tags, the works all load up using the search params I've listed in global filters, and global filters show when I click the saved filters drop down.
BUT fandom filters does not show, nor does it filter the works with my selected search params in fandom filters. In order to get it to both filter the works with fandom filters params, and actually show the fandom filters section, I have to type a random fandom into the 'Other Tags' box, refilter the page, than delete that tag, and once again refilter the page. This also has to be done EVERYTIME I change the main tag I'm searching with.
Is this the intended functionality, or am I doing something wrong? And if it is the intended functionality, is there a way this can be changed through an edit?
