Jira New Tab Flow: Open Tickets / Issues in a New Tab, Not the Sidebar

Enhance your Jira workflow with this innovative UserScript. Traditionally, clicking on an issue in Jira opens it in the sidebar, which can sometimes be distracting and obstructive. This script transforms that experience by opening any clicked issue in a new tab, giving you a full view and dedicated space for each issue.

Features

  • Toggleable: You can easily toggle the script on and off with a custom button. The button's color intuitively indicates the current state - Green means tickets open in a new tab, and Red means tickets open in the sidebar.
  • Hotkey: Simply double-tap the 'Control' key to toggle the script's active state. Quick and convenient!
  • Alerts: Whenever you toggle the state, a pop-up alert appears, confirming your action.
  • New Tab Opening: When active, clicking on a Jira issue will open it in a new tab, giving you more space to work on the issue.
  • User-friendly Design: The custom button is designed to be obvious and non-intrusive. When inactive, it turns red, and when active, it turns green.

Usage

This script is designed to work with Tampermonkey, the most popular userscript manager. It's as easy as clicking the 'Install' button on the script's Greasy Fork page, and Tampermonkey will do the rest!

You will find the script button on the top of your Jira page. Click to toggle between opening tickets in a new tab and the sidebar. Or double-tap the 'Control' key to achieve the same.

When the script is active, clicking on a Jira issue will open it in a new tab. When inactive, Jira reverts to its default behavior of opening issues in the sidebar.

Compatibility

This script works with Jira instances hosted at https://*.atlassian.net/jira/*.
