2015-10-19: Made it out of beta! This also means it can no longer be used alongside its predecessor, the legacy version of MTurk HIT Database. Please disable the legacy version before using!

Why should you use this script?

This is a complete rewrite of the MTurk HIT Database script from the ground up. It eliminates outdated and obsolete methods, which not only optimizes performance, but also fixes many of the bugs present in the original. This script is much cleaner, faster, and more efficient than its predecessor. It's also fully compatible with both Firefox and Chrome!

  Features

  • keep track of all HITs you've submitted
  • integrated daily/weekly projected earnings
  • automatically save auto-approval times
  • keep track of bonuses
  • add your own notes to HITs
  • file-based importing supports both JSON and CSV
    (no more annoying copy/pasting)
  • easily create backups of your ENTIRE database
  • checking whether or not you've done a HIT is easier and more intuitive

  User Guide

 Navigating the Interface
  Overviews

Pending OverviewDisplays all requesters for whom you have pending HITs, sorted by total rewards. Clicking the blue [+] or [-] will respectively expand or collapse HITs that are still pending for that requester.
Results can be filtered by the date inputs and query input search options.

Requester OverviewDisplays all requesters (regardless of HIT status) sorted by total rewards. Similar to Pending Overview, clicking the blue [+] or [-] will respectively expand or collapse HITs done for that requester.
Results can be filtered by the date inputs and query input search options.

Daily OverviewDisplays a summary of each day for which you have submitted HITs. Clicking the blue [+] or [-] will respectively expand or collapse HITs done on that day.
Results can be filtered by the date inputs.

  Imports, Exports, and Backups

ImportThis will open the file selector prompting you to select a file to import. Files must end in a .bak, .csv, or .json extension.
Note: Importing from a CSV file is restricted to HITs only. You cannot import notes, daily stats, or anything exported via the overviews (pending, requester, daily).

Export CSVConverts the results that would normally be shown into a tab-separated CSV file which can be loaded into a external SQLite database, spreadsheet file, etc.

Create BackupSelf-explanatory; it backs up the entire database which includes HITs, notes, and daily stats. This makes it easy to create periodic backups as a restore point in case anything should happen. It also makes it very easy to transfer a database to another computer.

  Searching

Status dropdownRestrict results to HITs matching the specified status

Query inputRestrict results to those which the requester's name, HIT title, or HIT ID at least partially matches the query. Read the section on Inline Search Filters for a more powerful and versatile search method.

Date inputsRestrict results to those that lie within the range specified

 Projected and Pending Earnings

These values are updated every time the database is updated. Pending earnings may include values for HITs with the status "Approved - Pending Payment". These funds have not been fully cleared and credited to your account, and thus are included here as they are still pending.

Click on the meter under the projected earnings to set your target value for the day/week.

 Bonuses

After searching for HITs in the database, click on the cell under the Bonus column to edit. The value is automatically saved when pressing "Enter" or after removing focus from the cell in any way.

 Notes

After executing a search, add a note by clicking on the 'Note' icon (📝) in the 'HIT Title' column. Multiple notes can be associated the same HIT. Notes are automatically saved when pressing "Enter" or after removing focus from the cell in any way.

An existing note can be edited by clicking on the cell containing the note's text.

To delete a note, click on the red [x].

 Advanced Usage

Large databases containing many tens of thousands of HITs can make default searching slow and inefficient. Restricting the scope of the search by specifying a date range is useful, but not always a convenient or even viable option, e.g. when retrieving HITs to update bonus values.

The bonus email includes the full HIT ID. If the full HIT ID is used as the search term, the relevant HIT is returned immediately. However, if you are not in a position to easily copy the entire HIT ID (e.g. viewing the email on a mobile device), this is where inline search filters come in.

  Inline Search Filters

Inline search filters have been expanded in version 1.1! They are now more powerful and multiple filters can be chained together. Queries using inline search filters take the form of search_terms filter:filter_terms; filter:filter_terms; ....
If using multiple filters, they must be separated by a semicolon.

  • The search_terms parameter is optional and can be omitted. Like default searching, this parameter will be matched against the HIT title, requester name, and HIT ID.
  • The filter can be any of the following:
    • id OR hitid - restrict results to those which the HIT ID starts with the specified string
    • rname OR requesterName OR req - ... same as above, using requester Name
    • rid OR requesterId - ... same as above, using requester ID
    • pay OR reward - restricts results to those with the reward within the specified range
    • bonus - ... same as above, using bonus values
  • The pay and bonus filters are different in that they take a range. The range can be any of the following:
    • value - returns results equal to given value
    • >value or <value - returns results greater than or less than given value
    • value1,value2 - returns results that are greater than or equal to value1 AND less than or equal to value2
