I would recommend you to use Chromium based browsers for video playing.
If you don't like Chrome / Chromium / Edge / Ungoogled Chromium,
you can use Cent / Catsxp / Maxthon

YouTube Live CPU Tamer
https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/396532-youtube-live-cpu-tamer
It can reduce CPU usage as well. You can try and install.
But it might create bugs to the running.

This will reset the settings stored in your browser. There is a menu button to reset the settings.
You just need to click it once.
Or you can click this link to enable the most simplified version of YouTube.
Enable: https://m.youtube.com/?persist_app=1&app=m
Restore: http://www.youtube.com/?persist_app=1&app=desktop

the mobile UI is really light compared to the desktop UI, but i still prefer desktop UI, thank you for the suggestion tho.
is this kind of script that revert old UI helps CPU usage too? or is it just to revert UI to the old one?

Firefox not focus on GPU and video stuff.
Comparatively it will be laggy.
(Note: For Windows, definitely Edge is the best for video playing. Microsoft hides many enhancement settings inside their browsers for GPU and CPU resource management)
(For MacOS, either Edge or Safari should have the least GPU & CPU usage)
(For Linux, I don't know, but there should be some alternative, like Waterfox)
Mobile UI is the best option if you really concern the CPU usage.

Not sure for this one. You can try and compare.
https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/453802-youtube-non-rounded-design
This one is just change the appearance. I don't think it can reduce CPU usage.
You can use Mobile UI in Firefox to see what is the minimum CPU usage (just video playing, no any other effect)
I guess https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/457543-yt-july-2018-november-2020-script will reduce CPU usage to a little bit closer to Mobile UI.
Seriously you should try other browsers if you cannot accept Mobile UI and feel CPU usage is high.
If you insist Firefox, you might also try Waterfox and Librewolf
I have made the tool for UI switching.

This script is to fix various issues for YouTube Mobile UI. It makes it more like the normal version but with less resources usage.
