WallFetch

WallFetch is a modern userscript that enhances the wallpaper downloading experience on Wallhaven. It replaces the default download flow with one-click access to full-resolution originals, while giving you fine-grained control over filenames, metadata, and download behavior — no browser extension bloat, just a lightweight script.

Features

  • One-click original downloads — grabs the source file directly, not the resized preview
  • Customizable filename templates — build filenames from wallpaper metadata instead of generic IDs
  • Automatic metadata extraction — resolution, category, purity, favorites, views, uploader, and upload date pulled straight from Wallhaven
  • Download history — keep a local record of what you've already grabbed
  • Duplicate detection — skips wallpapers you've already downloaded instead of cluttering your folder
  • Download queue with progress tracking — queue multiple wallpapers and watch them go
  • Automatic retries — failed downloads get retried instead of silently dropped
  • Clean, modern settings interface — configure behavior without digging through source code
  • Desktop notifications — know when a download starts, finishes, or fails
  • Persistent configuration — settings and history saved locally via userscript storage, survives restarts
  • Lightweight and privacy-friendly — no external services, no analytics, no telemetry

Filename Templates

WallFetch supports dynamic filename templates built from wallpaper metadata, so your downloads folder stays organized without manual renaming.

Example:

{id}_{category}_{resolution}_{purity}

Available placeholders:

Placeholder Description
{id} Wallpaper ID
{category} Category (general / anime / people)
{resolution} Full resolution (e.g. 1920x1080)
{width} Image width
{height} Image height
{purity} Purity rating (sfw / sketchy / nsfw)
{favorites} Favorite count
{views} View count
{uploader} Uploader's username
{filetype} MIME type
{extension} File extension
{date} Upload date

Mix and match to build a naming scheme that fits how you organize your library.

Fixed:

Compatibility

Tested with:

  • ScriptCat (primary)
  • Violentmonkey
  • Tampermonkey

Works reliably across all three — standard GM API usage throughout, no manager-specific hacks.

Privacy

WallFetch doesn't collect, transmit, or sell any personal data. All settings, history, and configuration live locally within your userscript manager's storage — nothing leaves your browser.
