🧠 Distraction-Free Gmail – Inbox Check Detox

A minimalist userscript to help reduce email distractions.
By default, your Gmail inbox is hidden — you're allowed to view it up to 3 times per day for 10 minutes each.
Composing and searching emails remains fully available at all times.

⚙️ Features

✅ Always allowed:

  • Writing emails
  • Searching for emails (#search in the URL)
  • Accessing labels, drafts, sent mail, etc.

⛔ Limited:

  • Direct access to the inbox (e.g. "Inbox", "All Mail")
  • Max. 3 views per day, each lasting 10 minutes

🕹️ How to Use

  1. When Gmail loads, a blue button appears in the top right corner:
Show inbox (X) – X indicates how many views are left for the day.
  2. Click the button to reveal the inbox and start the 10-minute timer.
  3. After 10 minutes, the inbox will automatically be hidden again.
  4. You can manually hide the inbox early by clicking Hide inbox.

🔄 Navigation Behavior

  • Search view (#search): Inbox is always shown — without using up your daily views.
  • Navigating between tabs (e.g. from "Sent" back to "Inbox") keeps the inbox visible while a view is active.

💾 Technical Notes

  • Views are tracked using localStorage and reset daily.
  • CSS is injected to hide the inbox and prevent flash loading artifacts.
  • The script uses a lightweight overlay during page load for a clean visual experience.

📦 Installation

Install using a userscript manager like Tampermonkey or Violentmonkey.
The script runs on all https://mail.google.com/mail/* URLs.
