Who wants to be a moderator?

I'm looking for a few people to serve as moderators on Greasy Fork. So far, there's hasn't been too much bad stuff for me to handle, but having additional eyes will ensure that things can be removed more quickly.

Initially, moderating will involve watching for and potentially deleting spam, malware, or stolen scripts, as well as deleting spam from the forum. Any actions taken will be publicly logged. In the future, extra responsibilities may be added.

Moderators should be contributors who have shown knowledge of scripting and ability to get along with others. They should also visit this site on a semi-regular basis.

OK, you three are in. Thanks!

You should be able to see links to delete and edit in the forum, delete scripts on the script's page, and "moderator action" links on your user pages.

@JasonBarnabe https://greasyfork.org/scripts/486-anonymous-facebook-by-caci/code looks like spam to me. Should I click the delete button?

@jasonBarnabe I just deleted this script (https://greasyfork.org/scripts/172-alpha) which still appears on https://greasyfork.org/scripts/under-assessment

Looks like malware to me, so yes, delete it!

Yes, that falls under obfuscation, malware, and external script. Nuke it.

Lol, just did some assessment for some under-review-scripts and got a 2 minute ban for make to many posts, even as moderator...

Not sure if you guys know, but if you "Moderator delete" a script, it locks it as well, so the author can't undelete it.

Jason,
as of now, all 'Assessment' threads show in the main index, under 'All discussions'. Like Styles reviews on us.o, could you make it so that this kind of threads stay in their own forum? like create another category for all those 'Assessment' threads? Maybe something like 'Moderation forum' or 'Scripts Assessments' forum or whatever else. It will get too crowded here with more scripts coming (i hope) in the future.

Also, i don't see 'Mark all discussions read' on the index page (All discussions).

§

I intend to have all script-specific discussions not show on the main page once their number starts overwhelming the other threads.

Well ... being a 'cleanup nazi', i'm annoyed by the amount of 'new post' threads i have no intention reading and have to sift through to find a thread (to read)(see the pic). Could we at least get the 'Mark all viewed' link/button? TIA!

I was just thinking that. Those feedback is actually only intended for moderators & the original script author.

The external script (MathJax) it self is safe to use.
That's all I know.

I'm not a moderator, but as someone who appreciates the role that the rules about external libraries play in blocking potentially malicious code, I would definitely prefer not to see scripts like this on the site.

§

I'm not sure if that script was intentionally or maliciously getting around the block, considering it wasn't obfuscated and the included script is benign.

I think we should treat cases like that as if they were @require-ing the script and decide based on that. Since the included script fits the definition of a "good @require", I've added it to the whitelist.

In a script like that, would @require-ing it have the same effect to the user?

§

using @require and adding <script> may have different effects to user afaik. But it maybe as dangers as the @require metadata.
btw, sometimes a script need to add some <script> to <head>. while the scripts added are used or hosted by the origenal site which this script works on. Can we just add some domain to whitelist for one script?

@andywang NO U CAN'T. Your previous account was banned because of abuse of reporting, if you be a moderator, you may delete comments and ban people at will, which is harmful to this site.

I agree with @Ddzhanshou, andywang registered a lot of sub-accounts such as andywang425 BANNED---abuse of reporting, andywang5434374, this behavior is beyond annoying, what's more, he and his fellows made a great number of unreasonable reports listed at below.

If andywang became a mod, I'm pretty sure that Greasy Fork will be a place filled with fear and despair.
