Assassinate Ad Block Blockers

You know those annoying content blockers that popup demanding you remove your AdBlock so you can read the content? This script removes them by force. Please note, this is not UNIVERSAL like AdBlock Plus. It operates at a per-site basis.

Currently enabled and working for the following domains:

New

  • www.nytimes.com - Note: Due to the way nytimes load, it may take up to 2 minutes for full blocker removal
  • cooking.nytimes.com
  • www.nytimes.com/section/magazine

Given the size of nytimes, I'm going to stop at the above three. If you notice another area with a blocker, let me know and I'll investigate and add if I can.

(Checked on February 3, 2020. Script removes all Ad Block blockers.)

Let me know if you see this annoyance on sites not included in the list above and I'll add them.

Note: This script cannot bypass sites like WashingtonPost.com that actually hide their content behind a pay wall. All the content has to be on the page for it to work.

[Sledgehammered] = Aggressive code to counter the site's lame-ass aggressive blocker. Think "fight fire with fire."

Another browser worth considering that makes this script obsolete is Brave (brave.com). Based on Chromium, Google's open source for Chrome, Brave is a fantastic browser. Anything you can do in Chrome you can do in Brave without the need for ad blocking and greater privacy.
