The new version 1.4.13 keeps the tooltip intact if a manual activation method is selected. For automatic activation the behavior is the same, which is intentional because tooltips get in the way of the hover preview (note that the text should be still displayed in the info bar at the top).
Well I have the script set to only work in combination with a button-press, so it's perfect for me now, thanks.
Very minor but long-term issue - tooltips don't always appear while hovering over something when this script is active. The most obvious example is when Google modifies its logo into a Google Doodle. With the script active it's very difficult to get the tooltip to appear, with it off it shows up instantly.
